The National Police (DGSN), in collaboration with Customs services at the Bab Sebta border crossing (North), thwarted an attempt on Friday to smuggle a significant cargo of ecstasy and “Boufa” into Morocco.
Boufa is a new, cheap drug made from cocaine extract. Addicts mix it with water before consuming it.
Police services apprehended the driver, a Moroccan, and his Spanish wife immediately upon their arrival in Morocco, said a DGSN press release.
Police also seized 20,056 ecstasy tablets and over 1,300 grams of “Boufa” drug.
The two suspects were remanded in police custody pending further investigation, under the supervision of the public prosecution.
Drug samples were sent to forensics to determine addictive and dangerous chemicals used in the illicit substance.
