Deputy Assistant Secretary Josh Harris is visiting Morocco on Friday, then going on to Algeria, as part of talks on the Moroccan Sahara and other regional security issues, according to a tweet by the US State Dep. Near Eastern Affairs posted on X (formerly Twitter) Thursday.
Deputy Assistant Secretary Josh Harris is traveling to Morocco and Algeria to consult on regional security and reaffirm full U.S. support for the @UN political process for Western Sahara.

In the tweet, the US State Department reaffirmed its firm position on the Sahara expressing its full support for the UN process.
Staffan de Mistura, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, will also make a trip to the Laayoune in the coming days.
De Mistura will have to persuade Algeria of the importance of reviving the round-table discussions to seek a political solution to the Moroccan Sahara conflict.
