At The Republicans’ (LR) first major meeting on August 28, MP Michèle Tabarot attacked French President Macron at the National Assembly, accusing him of “having sacrificed our relationship with Morocco to try to please the Algerian authorities.” She also expressed a desire to remind him that “without Morocco, there would be no Mediterranean policy”, reported H24.
Tabarot recalled a recent LR visit to Morocco in front of a enthusiastic crowd and an applauding Laurent Wauquiez.
She reminded the audience of how the LR delegation had met with political leaders and expressed their resolve to re-establish Moroccan French relations.
During this visit to Morocco in May, the head of the LR, Eric Ciotti, called for the French to take the initiative to rebuild ties between Paris and Rabat, which has been in diplomatic stalemate for months.
When asked about the topic of the Moroccan Sahara, Ciotti stated that “Morocco’s sovereignty is undeniable” and that resolving this strategic issue is urgent.
Speaking on the topic of migration, the leader of the LR emphasized that Morocco plays a significant role on the African continent, particularly in terms of migration, and France must reestablish a strategy of collaboration between the two countries.
