The U.S. Consulate in Casablanca welcomed its new Consul General, Marissa D. Scott, who took up her new post on Aug. 10, 2023, succeeding Lawrence M. Randolph whose diplomatic assignment in Morocco ended July 2, 2023.
Consul General Scott is a career diplomat who has worked in public diplomacy and media relations in a number of different countries across Africa. She was previously assigned to Djibouti, the Dominican Republic, Algeria, Niger, Cabo Verde, and South Africa. Most recently, she served as Senior Advisor on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility in the State Department’s Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs.
“The Consulate is an integral part of the U.S. Mission in Morocco,” Consul General Scott said. “I look forward to supporting our bilateral relationship through the broad range of consular services, educational and cultural programs, and commercial resources we offer in Casablanca.”
Consul General Scott graduated from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Spanish and a Master of Arts in International Relations. She also has a Certificate in Strategic Communications and Public Relations from Portland State University and an Advanced Certificate in Conflict Resolution from Syracuse.
Consul General Scott is married with three children.
