Bayer Leverkusen’s striker Amine Adli, 23, who represented Les Bleuets at Euro U21 last June, picked Morocco to play for, reported BeIN Sports on Saturday via X.
This native of Béziers (France), of Moroccan parentage, made his decision as head coach Walid Regragui is preparing to unveil the list of national players next Tuesday.
The Moroccan football team earned accolade after its historic performance at the World Cup in Qatar. Young talents are now racing to wear the national jersey and play for the homeland.
Adli left Toulouse for Germany on Aug. 26, 2021. His five-year contract is worth 7.5 million euros.
The footballer reached the Euro Espoirs quarterfinals with Les Bleuets last May, losing 3-1 to Ukraine.
FC Barcelona’s young forward Lamine Yamal, 16, who represented Spain in the most recent UEFA European U-17 Championship 2023, is also expected to make a similar move.
