The African Women in Tech & AI program kicked off its summer camp at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University’s (UM6P) campus in Rabat on Tuesday.
The program is a collaboration of the OCP Foundation and the AI Movement Center UM6P, and supported by UNESCO’s Priority Africa and External Relations Sector (PAX). It aims to build capacity among African women in the fields of technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence.
The program consists of intensive training, focusing on women’s leadership, AI in foresight, benchmarking, market research and AI project management, through case studies and interactive workshops.
Funding will be available to implement the most promising projects, enabling participants to make a tangible impact in their respective fields.
Executive President of the International Center for Artificial Intelligence in Morocco – AI Movement, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni told MAP that the program aims to support African women in setting up viable projects, “all the way from conception, right through to fundraising.”
Director of International Development at the OCP Foundation Hassina Moukhariq remarked that, in the face of climate change, the Foundation is committed to the sustainable development of the African continent with respect to agriculture, industry, health, and the environment.
The summer camp runs from Aug. 22 to Sept. 3.
