A children’s book normalizing same-sex marriage was removed from the shelves of a shopping center in Rabat on Monday.
The book, entitled Mes petites questions à toutes les familles, featured a page stating that two women or two men “can love each other, marry, and raise a child. They form a ‘homoparental family’.”
An investigation into how these books entered to Morocco has been opened, with the National Ministry of Education and the Customs administration involved.
Moroccan law penalizes “deviant or unnatural acts” between people of the same sex, and the punishment can range from six months to three years in prison and a fine of up to 1,200 MAD.
