Morocco earned 12 medals, including 6 gold, and topped the ranking on the 1st day of the African Karate Championship held in Casablanca on Aug. 17-20, reported Morocco’s Agency MAP on Thursday.
Gold medals were won by Adam Rchouq (cadet kata), Tijani Lamoum (junior kata), Jihane Bahajjou (cadet kumite -61 kg), Mohammed Es-Saidy (cadet kumite -52 kg), Aya Tourabi (cadet kumite +61 kg) and by the men’s cadet/junior kata team.
Silver medals were handed to Khouloud Nzak (cadet kata) and Roumayssae Tarkou (cadet kumite -47 kg).
Bronze medals went to Marouane El Makhloufi (cadet kumite -57 kg), Ilyasse Khouy (cadet kumite +70 kg), Douaa El Machouat (junior kata), and the women’s cadet/junior kata team.
The event is organized by Morocco’s Karate Federation (FRMKDA), under the auspices of the World Karate Federation (WKF).
This edition brought together 1000 athletes, coaches, technical staff, and referees from more than 27 countries.
