Tehran’s regime has ties with the separatist polisario Front, “Iranian Affairs Magazine” disclosed via its Twitter (now called X) account.
The stark cover shot of the magazine’s current edition entitled “polisario: Iranian militias in the Maghreb,” features Ibrahim Ghali, the head of the polisario group, sporting an Iranian turban, accompanied by Iran’s Supreme Head Ali Khamenei, and Secretary-General of Iran’s Lebanese Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah.
The magazine, which focuses on Iran, Arab states, and Gulf-Iranian relations, published interviews with Algerian opponent and journalist Walid Kabir, former Algerian officer Anwar Malek, and head of Front of Democratic Forces Party (FFD) Mustapha Benali about Iran’s support for the separatist polisario militias.
Morocco broke diplomatic relations with Iran in 2018, citing Hezbollah’s Lebanese links with the armed separatist group, a decision made after the country acquired intelligence revealing the polisario party’s financial, logistical, and military backing from Teheran.
The Iranian Hezbollah, with the support of the Iranian Embassy in Algeria, was providing assistance to the Polisario, as well as weapons and military equipment, posing a threat to Morocco’s security and stability.
