Morocco was featured prominently at the famous Jacob Javits Center in the heart of Manhattan at “NY NOW,” an international expo dedicated to interior design, decor, and furniture, held on August 13-16 in New York, Morocco’s tourism ministry announced in a news release on Tuesday. Six Moroccan artisanal companies participated.
“NY Now” is a biennial, B2B trade show featuring enterprises selected to participate based on unique products designed to meet the needs of the American market.
The six Moroccan companies included Callitris (decorative wood items and candles; Rabat), Maäyaz Jewelry (sfifa jewelry and accessories; Casablanca), Dounia Home (lighting; Marrakech), Milsouls (rafia clothes, shoes, and bags; Tangier), Key Value (glassware, pottery, and candles; Casablanca), and Some Slow Concept (decoration, furniture, and tableware; Marrakech).
With some 2,300 exhibitors, the six Moroccan enterprises presented their products at the “Morocco Handmade” display. The 111-square-meter stand featured a mix of products reflecting both Morocco’s heritage and its innovation, showcasing the creative world of Moroccan handicrafts.
The United States is the biggest importer of Moroccan handicrafts.
