Morocco imported 68,000 metric tons of Russian diesel fuel during the first half of August, part of an overall increase by 7% in Russian seaborne diesel exports, as reported Reuters on Tuesday, quoting data from traders and Refinitiv Eikon.
The Kingdom is not the only African country to import Russian diesel, Ghana imported 75,000 metric tons, and Togo received around 60,000 metric tons over the same period.
Morocco was ranked among the biggest importers of Russian diesel in March, accounting for 12% of all Russian diesel deliveries, surpassing both Tunisia and Algeria, according to Russian news outlet Sputnik.
Morocco imported more than 140,000 tons of diesel from various suppliers in early 2023. The European Union declared a total ban on Russian oil imports beginning February 2023.
