The first Festival of Malhun Art is set to be held on Aug. 25-27 in Kenitra (central Morocco), under the slogan “the art of Malhun, a common Moroccan heritage”.
Malhun is a musical genre originating in Morocco. It is characterized by poetic lyrics and melodies, and it is typically performed with a blend of vocal and instrumental elements.
The cultural gala aims to revive the art of Malhun in the city of Kenitra and to contribute to the sustainability of this ancestral art form.
The agenda features artistic events, educational seminars, and tributes to a number of Malhun figures. Many artists from across the country are expected to attend the festival.
Several locales in the city will host the festival’s many activities, notably Oued Sebou shore and the cultural complex.
This festival is organized in commemoration of the Revolution of the King and the People, at the initiative of the Association of art lovers for Education and Culture, in cooperation with the Municipal Council of Kenitra and the Regional Directorate for Culture.
