The Moroccan women’s football team arrived, on Thursday, at Casablanca’s Mohammed V airport from Australia where they gave an outstanding performance at the World Cup run.
President of the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) Fouzi Lekjaa and fellow Federation members warmly greeted the Atlas Lionesses upon their arrival. The squad also received a celebratory welcome from the public, who recognized and applauded their historic achievement.
Morocco is the first Arab country to take part in the Women’s World Cup and reach the knockouts.
With back-to-back victories over South Korea and Colombia, the Moroccan players earned six valuable points and secured a spot in the Round of 16 as runners-up in Group H, behind Colombia.
The national team lost to France 4-0 in the knockout stage of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup at Hindmarsh Stadium in Adelaide, Australia.
