The Royal Navy’s coastguard, patrolling the waters of Tantan, rescued, on Tuesday, 56 illegal migrants who were boarding a wooden boat.
The would-be migrants, hailed from sub-Saharan Africa, were facing hardship as their transportation means was a simple small-scale fishing boat, according to a military source.
The rescued received first aid and were taken safely to Tantan’s port. They were handed to the Royal Gendarmerie as per routine procedures.
