Morocco laid the path for addressing Africa’s migratory crisis, pursuant to a humane strategy meticulously devised and overseen by King Mohammed VI, according to American think tank “Wilson Center.”
Stephen King, Professor of Political Science at Georgetown University, highlighted that Morocco has taken the lead in migration management in Africa, recalling that the Kingdom pioneered regularizing the status of nearly 50K undocumented migrants, primarily from Sub-Saharan Africa. As a result, all Sub-Saharan African children gained unfettered access to public schools.
Morocco showed that migration from Sub-Saharan Africa to the North does not have to be a “security threat” for Europe or North Africa, rather, it could help eradicating prejudice and developing the entire continent.
The Washington-based body recalled the launch of the African Observatory on Migration, which tracks migration movement and coordinates government policies across the continent. It also said that Morocco is championing the cause of migration inside the African Union.
The think tank underscored the Sovereign’s tours in numerous African nations, which resulted in mega projects, making Morocco an investment leader in the continent, particularly in West Africa.
Africa-oriented strategy by Morocco also encompasses education, religious training, humanitarian aid, and capacity building, primarily in public administration, health, and electricity generation.
