A fire broke out at 6 a.m. Friday near Ouled Ziane bus station (Casablanca), known for being populated by Sub-saharan irregular migrants, and was subsequently contained with no serious casualties, according to Al Fidaa-Mers Sultan prefecture.
Once alerted, local and security authorities, as well as civil protection services rushed to the scene to extinguish the fire and offer relief. No human losses were reported, added the same source.
One migrant, who was slightly injured, was evacuated to Mohamed Bouafi Hospital for treatment. Other migrants were also rescued and removed from the site.
An investigation has been launched by the competent authorities into the causes of the incident.
