Morocco has an additional 1,299 new tourist guides thanks to the vast initiative to regularize tourist guides’ situation, which was launched in April. According to the Ministry of Tourism, the new figure brings the total of tour guides to 4,664.
In a press release, the Ministry announced the opening of an entrance exam that would allow applicants to move from the informal sector to the formal one.
“Morocco now has 1,299 new tourist guides divided into two categories: 459 guides in natural areas and 840 guides in cities and tourism sites,” it said.
Professional examinations, which include a physical and a viva, have been devised by commissions composed of local authorities, tourist guides associations, and regional or provincial tourism delegations.
The test results can be checked as of Aug. 2 on the Ministry’s website: “https://mtaess.gov.ma/fr/”.
