US Senator Ted Cruz applauded, Tuesday, Israel’s decision to recognize Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.
“Recently, Israel recognized Moroccan sovereignty over Sahara, opening the way to greater engagement, while Israelis have been flocking to Morocco in record numbers,” tweeted Cruz.
He added that the Abraham Accords flourished at every level, such as security, diplomacy and culture.
The State of Israel recognized, in a letter from Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu to King Mohammed VI, the sovereignty of Morocco over the Sahara and voiced its intention to open a consulate in Dakhla.
Netanyahu said his country’s position would be reflected in all relevant documents by the Israeli Government, adding that the United Nations, regional and international organizations as well as countries with which Israel has diplomatic relations will be informed of the decision.
