Morocco’s Agency for Employment and Skills Development (ANAPEC) and German Geodisia signed an agreement to hire 10,000 skilled Moroccan workers in Germany, particularly in the sector of fiber optic deployment, reported news outlet “Atalayar” Monday.
Germany is experiencing labor shortage, particularly in construction, engineering, IT, and healthcare industries.
To meet its need, Germany would require an additional 440,000 skilled workers yearly until 2030, according to a report by the Cologne Institute for Economic Research (IW). The dearth of local labor makes immigration the only solution to maintain Germany’s competitiveness and innovation.
The employment agreement between Germany and Morocco is based on a win-win strategy developed to balance supply and demand for skilled labor in both countries.
ANAPEC will be in charge of selecting qualified Moroccan individuals willing to work in Germany.
As for Geodisia, it will provide employees with language training, assistance as well as expertise in fiber optic installation to obtain German certifications that would kick open the local market.
