King Mohammed VI urged, on Saturday in a speech to the Moroccan nation marking Throne Day, to accelerate economic recovery as a downward trend of inflation is dawning globally.
With signs of inflationary pressure easing, Morocco should regain trust, seize new investment opportunities and work diligently to ensure the recovery of national economy, said the sovereign.
The King recalled the OCP-run green investment which kick-started an unprecedented dynamic in renewables. In this regard, he exhorted the cabinet to fast-track the implementation of the green hydrogen mega project to draw international investors.
On the scarcity of water resources, the Monarch urged further caution in giving concrete substance to the 2020-2027 Nationwide Water Program. He also warned that poor governance and bad management will not go unnoticed.
On a different note, the King announced that underprivileged families will begin receiving support by the end of this year to alleviate the impact of drought, growth downturn and externally-induced surge in prices.
Referring to the country’s territorial integrity, the King underscored Israel’s recent recognition of the Moroccan Sahara, without forgetting to assert the Kingdom’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, two things that are not mutually exclusive.
Politically, the Sovereign said that bilateral relations with Algeria are stable, hoping that border restrictions will be lifted and both brotherly peoples reunited.
He also called for fostering religious and patriotic values for a solidarity-based, prosperous society.
