King Mohammed VI pardoned 2,052 convicts on the occasion of Throne Day.
The Ministry of Justice announced that the beneficiaries are either detained or serving a suspended sentence.
The detained are 1,769, including 133 inmates who benefited from pardon over their remaining prison sentences, 1,632 prisoners who got their prison sentences reduced, 03 inmates had their life sentence commuted to fixed prison terms and one had his death sentence turned into life sentence.
Those with suspended sentences are 283: 80 persons benefited from pardon over their imprisonment terms or remaining prison sentences, 14 people benefited from pardon over their imprisonment terms while maintaining fines, 180 people had their fines annulled, 08 others received pardon over both their prison terms and fines, and one convict was pardoned over his remaining prison sentence and his fine was annulled.
Royal Pardon is customary in Morocco to mark religious celebrations and national holidays.
