The Senegalese government extended its gratitude to the Kingdom of Morocco for its support in the repatriation of and medical care for approximately 50 illegal Senegalese migrants. About 400 more are scheduled to be returned by the end of the week, according to a news statement released by the Senegalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.
Annette Seck, minister in charge of Senegalese abroad, conveyed gratitude following a visit to Dakhla on Tuesday and Wednesday. According to the same source, the objective of the mission was to provide assistance and support to Senegalese citizens who were waiting for deportation back their homeland after their failed migration attempt.
Fifty injured Senegalese would-be migrants were repatriated on Wednesday evening by a special Senegalese Air Force flight carrying a dozen of women, children, and adults in critical health conditions. The plane landed at Ouakam military airport.
The Senegalese government “…thanks the fraternal government of the Kingdom of Morocco for assisting and treating those injured,” concluded the statement.
