Minister of Higher Education Abdellatif Miraoui and US Ambassador to Morocco Puneet Talwar signed, on Friday, a protocol amending and extending the scientific and technological cooperation agreement between Morocco and the United States.
Talwar was representing the State Department’s Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs.
The protocol extends for 10 years the said bilateral accord, which was initially signed on Nov. 14, 2006, and subsequently enforced on Feb.8, 2012.
This new protocol will run from the day of signature until July 26, 2033. The prolongation is meant to sustain and improve bilateral collaboration in such fields.
Miraoui stated that this renewed partnership helps foster ties between Moroccan and American universities by sharing expertise, promoting student and researcher mobility, and establishing joint scientific research programs in critical areas such as climate change, technology and innovation, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development.
The American Ambassador said the agreement is a plus for intellectual property protection and the resolution of ubiquitous scientific and technical difficulties.
