The Kingdom of Morocco is very pained and saddened by the blazes that have erupted in parts of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, said a release from the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.
On this tragic occasion, the Kingdom of Morocco sends its heartfelt condolences for the loss of human lives caused by these flames, as well as its warmest wishes for the injured to recover quickly, added the statement.
The statement followed the huge blazes that occurred in the Kabylia region and took 37 lives, burned houses and beach resorts, and turned vast swaths of forest into a charred wasteland.
An undisclosed number of individuals were injured due to burns or smoke inhalation, and over 1,500 people were evacuated as flames raged over 15 provinces.
Intense flames burned over the mountain ranges, exacerbated by high winds and scorching summer temperatures that reached 48 degrees Celsius in the nation on Monday.
