Indian multinational information technology services and consulting company HCLTech launched a Global Delivery Center (GDC) in Rabat, Morocco, as part of the company’s nearshore strategy to serve global enterprises, announced HCLTech on Tuesday.
The company said that the launch follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between HCLTech and the government of Morocco in 2022 to invest in the country’s technology sector, adding that the GDC will deliver transformation projects to clients across HCLTech’s portfolio themes of digital, engineering, cloud, AI, and software. This launch further strengthens HCLTech’s global network of nearshore locations, which employ more than 23,000 individuals.
HCLTech affirmed that Morocco is an ideal nearshore location due to its skilled talent pool and prime geographic location. It also added that HCLTech endeavors to create partnerships with local universities and institutions to hone young talent in STEM and to facilitate entry level employment opportunities within the rapidly growing technology sector.
“The establishment of this center signifies our commitment to fostering innovation, promoting digital empowerment and creating a thriving ecosystem for the tech industry in Morocco. Together with HCLTech, we will work to unlock new horizons of growth, harnessing the power of digital transformation to drive progress, prosperity and inclusivity,” said minister delegate in charge of digital transition and administration reform, Ghita Mezzour.
Chief delivery officer of HCLTech Apparao VV pointed out that the company is looking forward to investing and scaling its presence in Morocco and to enhancing its technological expertise.
Noida-based HCLTech is among the 20 largest publicly traded companies in India as it is one of the top Big Tech Indian firms.
