Kabylia Self-Determination Movement (MAK) leader Ferhat Mehenni called MAK and the Kabylia Provisional Government in Exile (Anavad) government to recognize Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara in a speech posted on Sunday in The Times of Kabylia YouTube channel.
Mehenni congratulated the King of Morocco Mohammed VI on his new diplomatic victory in obtaining recognition of the state of Israel on the Sahara issue.
He said that this Sahara dispute is not a question of colonization, but the recovery of lands as people were pledging allegiance to Morocco’s Sultans (Kings) for centuries.
Mehenni highlighted that borders inherited from European decolonization did not respect local populations and their identities; but rather, the interests of colonizers. He added that these borders are impeding development on the African continent.
The MAK’s leader pondered how Algeria could support a separatist group and arm it against a neighbor, while they hypocritically undermine Kabylian freedom. The same observation could easily apply to the Uyghur minority in China, with whom Algeria shares the same religion and belief, but which still supports Chinese territorial integrity.
He dissected the latest Algerian diplomacy failures, starting from its inability to penetrate the BRICS clique, to the empty-handed return from China, to the the restoration of the anti-France portion of the Algerian national anthem.
He also took the opportunity to reiterate that Algeria is not a safe country, and that its capital was recently ranked among the three worst cities to live in.
