In a celebration of African football stars, the 2023 CAF Awards ceremony will be held on Dec. 11 in Morocco, announced the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Tuesday in a press release. Time and host city of this prestigious event will be unveiled in due course.
The Confederation labeled last year’s edition, also hosted by Morocco in Rabat, as “successful”, promising that the CAF Awards will feature some of Africa’s finest stars as it did last year with Senegal inspirational forward Sadio Mane and Nigeria and Barcelona top striker Asisat Oshoala claiming honors.
The Awards will pay tribute to the greatest club and international players who excelled throughout the previous season, with the crowning of the African Players of the Year in both male and female categories.
The CAF recalled previous men’s category winners such as Yaya Touré, Samuel Eto’o, Didier Drogba, Mohammed Salah, Riyad Mahrez, Nwankwo Kanu, Abedi Pele, and George Weah.
As for females, Oshoala will have its dominant position challenged by former winners as South African Thembi Kgatlana (2018) and Super Falcons legend Perpetua Nkw ocha.
Additional accolades up for grab comprise: Interclub Player of the Year (male and female), Young Player of the Year, National Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Club of the Year, and Goal of the Year.
