New electronic visa platform “eVisa”, which was launched on July 10, 2022, recorded 160,000 applications, including nearly 150,000 “eVisa” that were issued, said the Foreign Affairs Ministry in a statement Friday.
The number of processed applications significantly increased between July 2022 (nearly 6,000 requests) and November 2022 (more than 15,000 requests), and peaked in May 2023 with nearly 18,000.
Among the 150,000 “eVisa” issued, 96.6% were granted for tourism and 3.4% for business.
In the “Business” category, a large proportion of applicants are top managers of leading companies operating in different areas (engineers, high-tech personnel, decision-makers in multinationals, etc.).
Since its the launch, holders of 110 nationalities from all over the world were able to benefit from the electronic visa, thanks to the oversimplification of the administrative procedure.
55% of the “eVisa” was granted to Israel, 10% to India, 4.44% to Nigeria, 4.41% to Egypt, 3.5% to Pakistan, and 2.7% to Jordan.
The electronic visa is a plus for many foreigners, particularly those from Thailand, Jordan, Israel, India, Azerbaijan, and Guatemala. It allows entry and a 30-day stay in Morocco, and has a maximum validity of 180 days.
