Morocco’s impressive achievements were highlighted in a 75-minute documentary feature entitled, “Morocco, the Green Kingdom,” directed by the French duo Franck Beugniet and Frédéric Coconnier.
The documentary will be broadcast on National Channel 2M on July 26th at 10 P.M. on the occasion of Throne Day.
The movie will survey Morocco’s transition to renewables during King’s Mohammed VI reign, which is considered a strategic move regionally and internationally.
The documentary’s major objective is to demonstrate that Morocco has provided actual solutions to the global energy crisis by investing in green technology at an early stage–back in 2009–and by creating the solar and wind power infrastructure required for such energy transition.
Morocco’s strategy has enabled the nation to consolidate its energy sovereignty and to fully utilize its natural resources. Seawater desalination and, more recently, the creation of a Moroccan green hydrogen sector–which is seen as the energy of the future–are tangible manifestations of this.
The production department of 2M offers spectacular photographs filmed in Morocco and abroad, accompanied by commentary and explanations by experts, scientists, and political figures, to further illustrate Morocco’s “energy revolution,” its effect, and its issues.
The documentary features, among others, President of the Economic, Social, and Environmental Council (CESE) Ahmed Réda Chami; Minister for Energy Transition, Leila Benali; CEO of OCP Group, Mustapha Terrab; and explorer, environmentalist, and co-developer of the “Solar Impulse” solar aircraft, Betrand Piccard.
