Significant material damage was observed on Tuesday in the Al Haouz (Marrakech-Safi) region after heavy thunderstorms caused flooding in the commune of Moulay Brahim, as reported by local news outlets.
Several photos and videos posted on the Internet showed life-threatening torrents of rain washing away cars and damaging storefronts and private dwellings.
In a warning bulletin (orange level), the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) warned that locally heavy thunderstorms were forecast for Tuesday in certain provinces of the country.
These thundershowers (25-35 mm) fell between 3 P.M. and 11 P.M. in the provinces of Chichaoua, Al Haouz, Assa-Zag, eastern Es-Semara, and in the higher elevations of the Taroudant and Ouarzazate regions.
