Royal Navy units rescued, between July 10 and 17, 845 would-be irregular migrants of various nationalities, predominantly from sub-Saharan Africa, including around 400 individuals who were saved while adrift in national waters, south of Morocco.
During these operations, one body was recovered and taken to the nearest Moroccan port.
The candidates attempted perilous crossings aboard makeshift boats, kayaks, pirogues, jet-skis and even by swimming.
The rescued were given first aid on board the Royal Navy units, and were carried safely to the nearest ports and handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for routine administrative procedures.
