Morocco won seven medals, including three golds, two silvers, and two bronzes, at the World Para-Athletics Championships, held from July 08 to 17, 2023 in Paris.
The Moroccan selection concluded its participation with a gold medal earned by paralympic-and-world champion athlete Zakariae Derham in the shot put (F33). The Kingdom placed 20th (out of 107 participating countries) in the final medal count.
The other two gold medals were won by Ayoub Sadni (T47/400 m) and Fatima Ezzahra El Idrissi (T12/1500 m), who each set world records in their respective events.
The two silver medals went to Mouncef Bouja (T12/100 m) and Youssra Karim (F41/discus).
Bronze medals went to Oumaima Oubraym (F32/club throw) and Saïda Amoudi (F34/shot put).
This sports event brings together 1,700 athletes (with various disabilities) from 120 countries. Morocco participated in the Championships with 18 male and female athletes.
As a major qualifier for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the track and field meet is held under the aegis of the World Para Athletics subcommittee of the International Paralympic Committee.
