RS Berkane clinched the Thrones Cup title by defeating Raja on Saturday night in Rabat. Berkane broke the scoreless deadlock with a clean goal during the first extra half.
Raja was shorthanded throughout the match. Several players received red cards, one of whom was Marouan Hadhoudi, who received a red card in the 27th minute.
Burkinabese player Issoufou Dayo recorded Berkane’s game winner from the penalty spot at minute 105.
The capital, Rabat was occupied by Rajawi supporters in the thousands who cheered on their team to no avail. Berkane fans made the longer trip, and their support obviously paid off.
The stands were at full capacity with the boisterous crowd singing and cheering on their teams. The stadium was illuminated with smoke bombs on several occasions, as well, as police presence was heavily observed.
