The Spanish company “Enagas” revealed in its recent statistics that within the past four months, gas shipments had approached 90% of the transport capacity through the Maghreb-Europe gas pipeline.
The reverse operation of transferring the gas reached about 960 gigawatt-hours (GWh).
These recent figures showed that the reverse operation of the pipeline from Europe to Morocco has transferred almost all of its energy to Morocco, and therefore the Kingdom is now obtaining almost all of its gas needs through this pipeline.
According to the company’s figures, the shipment rate exceeded 800 GWh as of last March, at a time when it had not previously exceeded 300 GWh during the first months of the reverse operation of the pipeline from Spain to Morocco. This development occurred subsequent to Algeria’s decision not to renew the gas transfer agreement from Algeria to Spain, of course passing through Morocco via the Maghreb-European gas pipeline.
Engas indicated in its data that during the month of May, a total of 864 GWh was transferred, while during the previous June, a transfer of 840 GWh was recorded.
Spanish news outlet “The Objective” had previously noted that Morocco’s purchase of Spanish gas increased tremendously in skyrocketing by 1,200%.
