FIFA has once again promoted Morocco’s 2022 World Cup bid with a 25-minute video clip which highlights the most memorable aspects of the Atlas Lions’ journey.
The production comprises one segment of a four-part documentary series on the World Cup semi-finalist teams.
FIFA writes on its official website that the series offers a fresh viewpoint on how these teams performed during the tournament, highlighting exclusive player-and-coach interviews as well as FIFA-filmed play.
Moroccan coach Walid Regragui acknowledges that preparation for the tournament and actual play were both rigorous and exacting, as each player on the squad rose to the occasion. This was the key to the unprecedented success of the national team.
Between matches, camaraderie dictated that everyone lived as a family, and players needed to devote special consideration to their teammates’ needs. Selfishness was simply not an option.
In a similar vein, goalkeeper Yassine Bounou stated that it was already in the back of everyone’s minds that the team wasn’t there to play just three matches; but rather, to make history.
The video’s release has garnered a plethora of attention on social media, where internet users and Atlas Lions fans alike agree on the merits of a movie which celebrates in so many ways the irreplaceable global memories of last year.
