Khalid Ait Taleb, Minister of Health and Social Protection, inaugurated the construction of a psychiatric and mental health section at Dakhla’s Hassan II Regional Hospital on Wednesday.
The facility will provide basic services in psychiatry and mental illness treatment to residents in the Dakhla vicinity.
The health care facility, built on 1,800 square meter campus, is a partnership between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), and includes medical consultation facilities and an inpatient bed capacity of 20 units.
The project, with a budget of 17.8 million MAD and an estimated duration of 12 months, aims to provide care for patients with psychiatric disorders at the Hassan II Regional Hospital Center in Dakhla, saving them the inconvenience of traveling to other regions to receive necessary health services.
Ait Taleb stated to the press that new structures were created to meet the health needs of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region’s inhabitants and improve care supply and proximity to primary health services. An integrated information system has been established, enabling the processing of digital medical files.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the National Police (DGSN) have signed a partnership agreement to simplify and improve access to health services through the digital nomenclature of identity cards.
Ait Taleb and his delegation attended the inauguration of Level 1 Urban Health Center Al Wahda and Level 2 Rural Health Center in Bir Gandouz, as part of the Ministry’s policy on restructuring and equipping health facilities.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection provides quality biomedical materials, equipment, drugs, medical supplies, and human resources for these centers.
