The 3rd Ministerial Meeting of the Atlantic African States Process (PEAA) kicked off, on Wednesday in Rabat, with the participation of 21 African countries bordering the Atlantic, including fifteen at the ministerial level, with the goal of consolidating the political momentum of this innovative African partnership.
Speaking on this occasion, Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita announced the inauguration of the PEAA website. “This digital platform will allow us to increase our visibility and will serve as a tool for communication and information sharing, advocacy and partnerships.”
The idea to convene a PEAA ministerial conference is a manifestation of King Mohammed VI’s vision for reshaping the Atlantic African region into a zone of peace, stability, and shared prosperity. This third edition comes after two ministerial sessions in Rabat and New York in 2022.
The first ministerial conference resulted in the Rabat I Declaration, which emphasized the political commitment of Atlantic African countries to deepen regional cooperation and integration.
The second laid the groundwork for the Action Program, a road map for member nations to meet common goals. Political and security debate, blue economy, maritime connectivity, energy, and sea preservation were all on the agenda.
