The Moroccan ministries of Health and of Industry entered a partnership with Sotherma, Dassault Systèmes, Baylor College of Medicine and Regenlab in order to strengthen Morocco’s pharmaceutical policy, according to a press release by the Health Ministry.
The MoU signing ceremony was chaired by Health Ministry Khalid Ait Taleb, and Minister of Industry Ryad Mezzour.
The agreement is meant to create Africa’s first ecosystem focusing on galenic development and clinical trials, and utilizing AI and new technologies to boost “Made in Morocco”, R&D, and healthcare innovation, particularly anti-cancer therapies.
On the same occasion, Axess Pharma, a subsidiary of Sothema, was officially inaugurated with the aim of developing oncology-related drugs.
This partnership is crucial to Morocco’s Anti-cancer Strategy. It intends to reduce costs incurred by the state and patients, as well as create jobs for researchers, pharmacists, specialists, engineers, and skilled technicians.
