Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and his Italian counterpart, Antonio Tajani, agreed, on Wednesday in Rome, to an action plan to implement a multidimensional strategic partnership based on continued dialogue and mutually beneficial aid.
The plan focuses on political and diplomatic dialogue, security and justice, economy, energy, and sustainable development, as well as culture, higher education, research and development, intercultural and interreligious dialogue, and immigration and consular matters.
The Action Plan also addresses the establishment of a Partnership Council and related commissions, which will alternate annual meetings between Rabat and Rome.
The council, which is established at the level of the ministries of foreign affairs, will monitor and set priority areas for cooperation, formulate recommendations, assess progress, and review collaborative issues between the two countries.
The committee consists of senior staff members, including the Committee for Political and Diplomatic Dialogue, Cooperation in the Field of International Peace and Security, Justice, Economy, Energy and Sustainable Development, Culture and Academics, Research and Development Cooperation, Intercultural and Interfaith Dialogue, Immigration and Consular Affairs, and the Committee for Culture and Academics.
Bourita, who was invited by Tajani, arrived in Italy yesterday. This marks his first visit since Tajani’s appointment as Italian Vice-president and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
