Online football news source GOAL.com reported yesterday that colorful Moroccan Midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has piqued the interest of the storied Manchester United. However, the franchise would have to pay big bucks to eat his existing Fiorentina contract…to the tune of 35-40 million euros.
The talented 26-year-old, whom GOAL describes as “combative,” dazzled at the World Cup and has been impressive in Serie A play, in which he has spent the past three seasons with Florence. But United coach Erik ten Hag wants to reinforce his squad, with some reports even suggesting that Amrabat and the English powerhouse came to a tentative agreement at one point.
Fiorentina has of course denied the existence of any such agreement.
Neapolitan football journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed to CaughtOffside that a buyout of his existing contract with Fiorentina could be valued as high as 34 million euros. “He’s a fantastic player, as we saw in particular with his performances with Morocco at the World Cup, so I’m sure things will happen in the next months,” reported Romano.
He added, “Now is the time for super top midfielders to move, like Declan Rice; then a new moment of the domino will come. Barcelona has had a past interest, and even had a loan offer turned down in January, but are focused on Oriol Romeu now, a less expensive option.”
