Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is developing a new app called Threads to compete with Twitter, which will go online on Thursday, said BBC.
The new app is already available for pre-order on App Store on Apple, and it will be linked to Instagram, added the same source.
The Threads app will be a free service, with no limits on how many posts a user may view.
Screenshots show a dashboard that resembles Twitter. The new product is described as a “text-based conversation app” by Meta.
The decision is the latest in a spat between Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter CEO Elon Musk.
In recent years, a number of applications with striking similarities to Twitter have emerged, including Donald Trump’s Truth Social and Mastodon.
