The Royal Speech, which is usually delivered on the occasion of the Revolution of the King and the People (on Aug. 20), will no longer be given as it falls between the Throne Speech and the Parliament Opening Speech, in almost the same period, said a statement by the Royal Palace Spokesperson on Friday.
The event which follows and precedes two major happenings in the Kingdom will be duly celebrated at all levels except for the Speech.
The King reserves the right to speak to his loyal subjects on any occasion and at any time he deems appropriate, it added.
The Revolution of the King and the People recalls the symbiosis between late King Mohammed V and the Moroccan liberation movement to fight the French protectorate. This strong and coordinated resistance pushed the French colonizer to send the Sovereign into exile.
