King Mohammed VI pardoned 1,434 convicts on the occasion of Eid Al Adha (the 10th day of Hegira month Dhul Hijjah).
The Ministry of Justice announced that the beneficiaries are either detained or serving a suspended sentence.
The detained are 1,189, including 171 inmates who benefited from pardon over their remaining prison sentences, 1,012 prisoners who got their prison sentences reduced, and 06 inmates had their life sentence commuted to fixed prison terms.
Those with suspended sentences are 245: 86 persons benefited from pardon over their imprisonment terms or remaining prison sentences, 19 people benefited from pardon over their imprisonment terms while maintaining the fines, 136 people had their fines annulled, 03 others received pardon over both their prison terms and fines, and one convict was pardoned over his remaining prison sentence and his fine was annulled.
Royal Pardon is customary in Morocco to mark religious celebrations and national holidays.
