Accor will sell its 33% stake in Risma, Morocco’s leading publicly listed hotel operator, to Mutris – a Moroccan investment company bringing together private and institutional investors- at a price of 130 MAD per share and sell its Risma bonds on the market, said Accor in a press release Monday.
The transaction is anticipated to be concluded in the Q3 of 2023, while completion is still pending several regulatory clearances, as it will not have any impact on current contractual agreements between Accor and Risma.
With the sale of the shares held in Orbis (Poland) in 2020 and H World Group (China) in 2023, the Group will continue the streamlining of its minority interests by restructuring its equity assets in Morocco.
Accor is bolstering its resources in order to speed up its development in Morocco, through AGM, and to keep playing a significant role in marketing and enhancing the profile of this destination worldwide.
“Morocco is a wonderful destination and a country with unique assets and an unrivaled culture of hospitality. Accor was a pioneer in the country nearly 30 years ago, and we have built strong relationships with leading partners and committed, talented teams. By simplifying our structure, we are ensuring we have additional resources to continue playing a major role and growing our business in Morocco, and promoting the country’s cultural and tourist heritage,” said Accor Chairman and CEO Sébastien Bazin.
With more than 5,000 employees and a network of 39 hotels (6,000 guest rooms), including brands like Ibis, Fairmont, Sofitel, and Mövenpick, Accor has been operating international brands in Morocco for 30 years. In addition, four hotels (700 rooms) are currently under construction.
