The Atlas Lionesses and Lions of Athletics came first in the final ranking of the 23rd Arab Athletics Championships for Seniors, which ended on Saturday in Marrakech, with 56 medals, including 17 gold, 25 silver, and 14 bronze.
Moroccan competitors won 22 medals on the fourth and final day of competition, comprising 6 gold, 9 silver, and 7 bronze.
Spokesperson of the Royal Federation for Athletics (FRMA) Mohamed Nouri spoke to MAP about the tremendous success of the 23rd Arab Athletics Championships, with respect to both organization and caliber of the champions’ participation in the event.
The 23rd Arab Senior Athletics Championships, organized by the FRMA in collaboration with the Arab Athletics Union, drew 250 Arab athletes from 16 nations.
With the sole exception of the half-marathon and road walk, which were conducted outside the Grand Stade, this edition featured 23 events staged at Marrakech’s Grand Stade.
Morocco has won the most cumulative medals in the Arab Senior Athletics Championships–with 108–since the tournament first took place in Damascus in 1977.
