French senator Valérie Boyer drew the attention of the French government and Senate, via her Twitter and in a written question to the legislative body, to the double game by the Algerian military government, which reinstated a portion of Algeria’s national anthem bashing colonial France, while at the same time repressing Kabylians.
The senator affirmed that Algeria, which is attacking France, has been repressing peaceful activists in Kabylia for many years, and failing to respect human rights.
The passage that included France had previously been deleted from the anthem to avoid political awkwardness.
The segment in question promises a direct threat of revenge against France following the extensive period of colonization (1830-1962).
