London-listed energy company, Chariot, is nearing a decision on its preferred partner for the Anchois gas project located offshore Morocco. With high levels of interest, the company’s gas assets in the region show promising prospects.
According to a press release by the company, Chariot is making significant strides in the emerging green hydrogen market, currently working on a pilot project in Morocco and planning a major green hydrogen project called Project Nour in Mauritania, in collaboration with Total Eren, a leading French energy company.
Chariots’ audited final results for the year ending December 31, 2022 show a commitment to developing a diversified business, including natural gas, renewables, and green hydrogen. The company has achieved key objectives and added new opportunities, focusing on scalable projects to provide accessible, reliable, and sustainable power sources for the energy supply chain in its countries.
Chariot has made significant advancements in the gas sector, with the Anchois Gas Development project in Morocco’s Lixus license yielding significant gas discoveries. Post-well analysis confirmed consistent and high-quality reserves, increasing recoverable resources.
Chariot’s acquisition of the Rissana Offshore license expanded its Lixus basin prospects, estimated to hold 7 trillion cubic feet. The company initiated front-end engineering design and secured gas sales agreements with ONEE, Morocco’s electricity and water office.
Chariot has expanded its partnership with Total Eren, adding over 500 MW to its mining pipeline. The company has also developed solar and wind projects, including a 40 MW photovoltaic solar project in South Africa and a 430 MW project in Zambia.
Chariot has signed pilot projects in Morocco to evaluate large-scale green hydrogen production, showcasing its commitment to expanding its green hydrogen portfolio across Africa.
