Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business, plans to launch an affiliate in Casablanca to manufacture detailed static and structural machined parts for various engine models. The branch will be called Pratt & Whitney Maroc (PWM), said the Company in a release on Tuesday.
This new greenfield facility of 130,000 square feet will be developed using lean principles and CORE methodology to increase efficiency and quality while lowering costs.
Morocco was chosen following a worldwide benchmarking effort because of it is an expanding aerospace hub, with low business costs and skilled, accessible manpower.
President of Pratt & Whitney Canada Maria Della Posta said: “Pratt & Whitney Maroc, as an independent affiliate, will create 200 jobs by 2030, and we look forward to joining the business community in Casablanca’s MidParc Free Zone”.
“P&W investment in Morocco will strengthen our aerospace ecosystem by fostering innovation, research, and the development of new technologies,” said the representative of the Moroccan Ministry of Investment.
This investment is critical to the company’s capacity to develop engines in response to high demand, and it places Pratt & Whitney closer to its African customer base and partners, allowing it to further assist the region’s aerospace expansion. To guarantee a successful launch in 2025, facility development will commence in Q4 2023.
