The first day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the last month in the Islamic calendar, will fall on June 20. This means that Eid Al Adha, or feast of sacrifice will take place on Thursday, June 29, 2023, Morocco’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs announced on Sunday.
The ministry stated that the crescent moon, marking the beginning of the month of Du al-Hijjah, was not sighted after al-Maghrib prayer on Sunday.
The statement added that delegates from the ministry and military units involved in the observations had confirmed the non-sighting of the crescent moon.
Therefore, as the month of Dhu al-Qa’dah 1444 H is counted as 30 days, the month of Du al-Hijjah begins on Tuesday 20th June 2023 and Eid al-Adha consequently falls on June 29, 2023.
