King Mohammed VI assigned Lekjaa Fouzi, Minister Delegate for the Budget and President of Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), the chairmanship of the joint bid Committee, along with Spain and Portugal, for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The designation came in a statement issued by the royal office on Friday.
The Monarch announced the Kingdom’s decision, on March 14th, to submit a joint bid with Spain and Portugal to host the 2030 World Cup. The King had said that this historic football bid will unite Africa, Europe, the northern and southern Mediterranean, as well as the African, Arab, and Euro-Mediterranean worlds. This endeavor will bring out the best in everyone by combining talent, creativity, experience, and resources.
Faouzi Lekjaa is considered a powerful figure in Moroccan football governance. He is known for his strategic vision and commitment to youth development, and has played a critical part in Moroccan football’s domestic and international achievements.
